Scalable Analytics is a cutting-edge startup company whose mandate is to provide real-time analytic tools for companies using high-frequency financial data in electronic trading. The company seeks to provide more accurate analytical data faster using state-of-the-art techniques in parallel processing, algorithmics and statistics.

Scalable has a strong technical team with a background in Computer Science and Mathematics, complemented by a diverse and experienced Director and Advisory Board.

Management

 Camilo Rostoker
Mr. Rostoker, CEO, is a creative young entrepreneur who has taken Scalable from inception to an exciting start-up with a capable team, promising technology, and a strong network of contacts. His past business experience includes founding a web-development and consulting company, where he led the design and development of several member-based websites, one of which he helped to grow to over 9,000 members. Prior to founding Scalable he was consulting for local hedge funds on such topics as financial modeling, quantitative analysis, and developing automated trading systems. Mr. Rostoker holds Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Computer Science, and researched and implemented the core computational engines as part of his M.Sc. Thesis. He has technical expertise on distributed systems, data-mining and algorithms, and has a keen interest in state-of-the-art computational approaches to electronic trading.

 Dr. Alan Wagner
Dr. Wagner is an Associate Professor at the Computer Science Department of the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, BC (Canada). He is also a member of the Institute for Computational Intelligence and Cognitive Systems (ICICS). At the Computer Science department he is a member of Distributed Systems Research Group. Dr. Wagner has over twenty years experience in the area of parallel and distributed systems. His research areas include parallel library design, and MPI (Message-Passing Interface) middleware design. His group has contributed to MPICH and Open MPI, two of the most widely used open source MPI middleware for parallel programming.

 Dr. Andrew Csinger
Dr. Andrew Csinger, an established technology entrepreneur with a proven track record, is a Director and Strategic Advisor. Dr. Csinger is the current Entrepreneur-in-Residence at UBC, with past positions including Senior VP and CIO at Group Telecom and Founder and President of Xcert Software.

Advisory Board

 Dr. Holger Hoos
Dr. Hoos is an Associate Professor at the Computer Science Department of the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, BC (Canada). He is also a member of the Institute for Computational Intelligence and Cognitive Systems (ICICS) and a Faculty Associate of the Peter-Wall Institute for Advanced Studies. At the Computer Science department, he is a founding member of the Bioinformatics, Theoretical and Empirical Algorithms (BETA) Laboratory and a member of the Laboratory for Computational Intelligence (LCI). Dr. Hoos is a leading expert in the area of stochastic search algorithms and combinatorial problem solving. Together with Thomas Stuetzle (University of Brussels, Belgium), he wrote one of the standard reference books in this area.

 Scott Dunlop
Mr. Dunlop, a senior counsel at Davis LLP, has extensive expertise in the management and operation of enterprises, including director, executive, shareholder and partnership issues. He is also an experienced counsel in protection and optimization of intellectual capital. Mr. Dunlop advises Scalable on issues such as corporate structure, due-diligence processes and intellectual property.

 Bernie Lyons
Bernie Lyons' investment industry career spans over 20 years. After graduating with a BBA from St. Francis Xavier University, he worked with an international investment management firm owned by a German bank. Back in Canada, he built a model practice as an Investment Advisor with a U.S. based Investment Bank and was subsequently engaged in their Management Training Program. He then assumed Regional Complex Sales Manager responsibilities for 10 branches, spanning four provinces. After moving to Vancouver, he worked as a District Executive and Vice-President with an Investment Dealer owned by a large International Bank. He has also worked as the Vice-President of Private Client Services of a major Regional Canadian Investment Dealer. Bernie is a Creative Strategist and the Principal Consultant at Aventoro Capital Inc. and he splits his time between providing advice and transitional C-level support to early-stage Vancouver based companies, and by consulting for Investment Dealers across Canada.
